Write a C program using user-defined functions to determine whether the given string is palindrome or not
In this article, we will write a C program using user-defined functions to determine whether the given string is palindrome or not.
Palindrome means the string on reversal should be the same as the original.
Example: madam on reversal is also madam
Algorithm:
Step 1: start
Step 2: read a string A
Step 3: copy string A into B
Step 4: reverse string B
Step 5: compare A &B If A equals B to got step 6 Else goto step 7
Step 6:print given string A is palindrome Step 7:print g
Write a C program using user-defined functions to determine whether the given string is palindrome or not
#include <stdio.h>
#include <string.h>
void main()
{
char string[25], reverse_string[25] = { '\0' };
int i, length = 0, flag = 0;
printf("Enter a string \n");
gets(string);
for (i = 0; string[i] != '\0'; i++)
{
length++;
}
printf("The length of the string '%s' = %d\n", string, length);
for (i = length - 1; i >= 0; i--)
{
reverse_string[length - i - 1] = string[i];
}
for (flag = 1, i = 0; i < length; i++)
{
if (reverse_string[i] != string[i])
flag = 0;
}
if (flag == 1)
printf("%s is a palindrome \n", string);
else
printf("%s is not a palindrome \n", string);
}
Input:
Enter a string
madam
Output:
The length of the string 'madam' = 5
madam is a palindrome
